Awarded with four grapes
“The best view of the baroque Wackerbarth Castle is just above Jacobstein. The best view of the estate's magnificent Riesling can be enjoyed on the picturesque terrace between the castle and the Belvedere. But Wackerbarth is not just baroque: the conversion to natural and sustainable viticulture has been completed, with PiWis already growing on around ten percent of the vineyards. Wackerbarth was the first winery in the new federal states to be certified with the FairChoice seal for sustainability in the wine industry in 2023. This is best practice!”

“The baroque palace and garden complex at the foot of the Radebeul vineyards, which Count von Wackerbarth had built at the end of the 1720s, is a feast for the eyes. And today it is a tourist magnet, as the state winery has been transformed into a true event location, with restaurants, an estate market and many events. But don't draw the wrong conclusions from this: Great cool-climate wines are produced here at a high level; and since 180 years ago, cellar masters from Reims brought their art to Radebeul, excellent sparkling wines à la française have also been produced here.”

Vinum Wineguide Germany 2025
Awarded with three stars
“The winery Schloss Wackerbarth is one of the top wineries in Saxony, year after year. This year we tasted three very high-quality sparkling wines, including the new Prestige Sekt Bussard [...] [Royal Réserve brut]. All three impress with the finest mousseux, creamy structure and fine mineral aftertaste. This demonstrates our expertise in the sparkling wine sector. In addition, there is a fresh and expressive Scheurebe, a perfect toast wine from the current 2023 vintage, which offers exotic aromas as well as a lot of drinking fun. The single-vineyard wines from the 2022 vintage are much more sophisticated and need air in the glass. In addition to a concise acidity, the mineral character strongly influenced by the syenite soils is also evident here. The Riesling Terrassenlage and the top wine from the Protze parcel in particular show that Riesling can be highly exciting even with little fruit. The residual sweet wines show a perfect interplay of sweetness and acidity [...]. The Traminer is a perfect accompaniment to fine cheeses and, like all the wines of the house, can mature very well. A prestige rosé was newly presented, which was also allowed to mature, aged a little in wood and, due to its dry, finely structured style, certainly goes very well with Mediterranean dishes.”

“[...] A straightforward Pinot Blanc and a fragrant, gripping Scheurebe were presented from 2022. [...] Our clear favorite is the Eiswein, which shows candied fruit and lychee in the bouquet, is concentrated and dominant with a lot of substance; the two Spätlese wines have fine spice and a lot of grip. Among the dry 2021s, we like the Riesling Protze best, which shows a lot of spice and fragrance, is gripping and structured [...].”

falstaff.at, "The mulled wine recipe of the Raugrafen von Wackerbarth" from 19.11.2021
About "Wackerbarths Weiß & Heiß"
"The writer's self-experiment revealed a cinnamon, anise and orange-scented mulled wine that seems surprisingly full-bodied on the palate, with a slightly viscous, fruity sweetness enlivened by harmonious acidity. A mint component, also quite present, makes the taster think of a Müller-Thurgau as the base wine. And isn't there also a hint of Scheurebe spice? Anyway: sub-zero temperatures, you may come!"
